Description
South Park offers quality climbing that is close to the car. Most of the routes range from 30 to 50 feet tall, with a few being as tall as 80 feet. It is located on the south side of Fairview Mountain and there are some houses close by, so please be respectful to the neighbors.
Best time to climb here is on cold winter days. Many of the routes face south and the area gets decent wind protection. Even when its freezing everywhere else, you can still climb here in a shirt and shorts.
- Some of the formations get morning shade, so it is also possible to climb here in the summer if you start early.
Getting There
From the intersection of South Rd. and Japatul Rd. in Apple Valley, go north on a dirt road for 100 feet, then veer to the right and drive down a small hill and continue to head north east towards the rocks.
- Park in the north east section of the big dirt lot (far away from the houses).
