Description
Fairview Mountain is located near the town of Apple Valley and has some very fun climbing in a beautiful and secluded environment. The area is comprised of 3 sub-area; Tatooine, Middle Earth, and Land of the Lost. The rock is Monzonite with an excellent patina and the routes range from 25 to 90 feet. Most of the climbs are sport, but there are also some fun gear climbs and it is worth bringing a rack.

Getting There
From Hwy 18 and Joshua Rd in Apple Valley, go north on Joshua Rd.
At 3 miles turn right on Cahuilla then drive 2.8 miles and turn left onto dirt road that is marked with a small metal pole with red stripes.
Then immediately (within 10 ft.) veer left onto a smaller single track dirt road.
Follow this road heading north and northwest for about 1.7 miles to the parking area. Keep Fairview mountain on your left side until you see the first major canyon which where the parking area is. The parking area sits slightly uphill at the base of the ridge that is next to the canyon (Just before getting to parking area, you will make a sharp left turn and go uphill to the parking area which is at the base of the rocky hill/ridge).
Look around for the cairn which marks the start of the hillside trail that weaves through the rocks heading west up the hill. Plan for about 10 to 15 minutes of hiking to get to Tatooine; 20 minutes to get to Middle Earth; and 25-30 minutes to the Land of the Lost. There is also a canyon trail that takes you past the Hoodie towards Middle Earth.
