Description

Sector Smoki is a stunning wall of limestone that sits on the northwest side of Morača Canyon. This 400 meter long wall hosts 70+ sport routes with grades that range from 3 to 10- (UIAA) The style is generally steep and powerful tufa pulling with face moves. Routes are up to 30 meters long although many stop at the 15 to 20 meter mark and have room for an extension. The grades are solid so if you're going to have a good time it's best to check your ego at the door and simply enjoy the movement that this beautiful wall offers.

Getting There

From Podgorica take Highway M2 5 km northwest to Morača Canyon. There is a limited amount of parking down a one-lane road on the south side of the river next to the railroad tracks. This is the normal Trailhead to access sector Smoki. Park and walk back towards the highway 50 meters to an obvious footpath that follows switchbacks up the hillsides to the base of the cliff. Approach takes about 10 minutes.

This is also an easy walk from either hostel across the river. On weekends the small parking lot fills up by 9 a.m. or so.

Details: Beta for Summer: First sector (A) gets sun by 2 pm. Next sector (B) gets sun by 3 pm. The middle of the wall, "Sector C" Stays in the shade the longest, until about 4 PM. The farthest sectors, D and E, get sun the earliest since they face SW.
