Access Issue: From the west entrance the first mile plus eastward is on a section of State Land and the roadway thru to NE gate has public access. The land one mile east is private and non-participating for access to the LPWHMA users. Details

For further access details consult the WY Game & Fish Map of this area. Some signs at each LPWHMA entrance have an ownership map. The region at the east end of the south side the State Land has a small parcel of private land.

Description

This east running canyon 's rock is mostly granite walls with some quartzite and some gray and white banded gneiss. The initial north canyon walls could be also mentioned as sidehill outcrops of the Douthitt Mtn group, but the canyons north facing walls are quite visible from the valley bottom roadway. So far only two groups of outcrops have climbs on them, so come and explore.

Getting There

The zone you are heading for is the saddle between the north end of Douthitt Mtn and the dome just north. Use the same route as for getting to Douthitt Mtn until the first major junction about 3/4 mi east of the second wire gate on the road. Take a left at this triangle junction. Cross the crest of a ridge and then proceed downhill and about to a roadway heading east along the side of a grassy meadow. Stay straight at the next junction driving along the meadow. Just beyond the steep climb on a level ridge take a left downhill to a wire gate. You are now in the upper west sides end of House Log Creek Canyon.The GPS location is for a road junction about half way east of the west gate entrance.
