Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy rain, the porous nature rock will remain soaked sometimes for several days. Please do not boulder in Bitou during or after rain. There are is good alternative just 5 mins drive away to climb/boulder in Long Dong.

Description
Bitou cape or 鼻頭角 is a tiny fishing village just minutes before arriving at Dragon's Cave 龍洞 which is known for being the best rock climbing area in Taiwan. Bitou is known among the locals for its lighthouse, hiking trail and local delicatessen. Every weekend, hoards of local tourist travel to this village an hour away from Taipei to get their countryside fix and life return to the quiet fishing village vibes during weekdays.
In 2015 Qx and Kelly started their climbing hostel, The Bivy, here in Bitou and it was not until Dec 2018, they discovered the sea of sandstone boulders by the coast in the village. The sandstone in Bitou is made up of slate and clay which creates very unique style of climbing and occasional crack systems. The Bitou cape is rich in geology and features younger rocks of about 7 million years old compared to its neighbour Dragon's Cave which is 35 million years old.
Right now there are bout 50 boulder problems in the area and there are more to come.
