Description
Nastrolopitheque is a south facing wall that contains a stellar over hanging section highlighted tufas and hard routes. This is flank by moderate slab climbing on both the left hand right side. The setting cannot be beat and due to a longer approach (10 extra minutes :) you will likely have this wall to yourself.
Getting There
The best approach trail to sectors Uzak Zurafa, Papynosaure, Shaman and Nastrolopitheque is located directly underneath the massive cave formation called Can Baba. Locate a couple rock piles next to the dirt road (kerens) that mark the trailhead and park so that other vehicles may easily pass. Cross a small stream bed that is normally dry and follow a well-worn trail that zig zags up the hillside toward the center of this huge face. When you break through the undergrowth you will be standing in front of a massive wall and at the left side of Uzak Zurafa.
To reach Nastrolopitheque hang a left on the path a few metres before arriving at Uzak Zurafa (the main cliff). Follow this path that traverses along the base of the wall for 5 minutes and you will arrive at sector Shaman. Continue another 5 minutes and you will arrive at sector Papynosaure. 5 minutes beyond that you will be at sector Nastrolopitheque. All of these climbing areas are well worth the walk and a share a view that is world class.
