Description
Remnant of a demolished dam that once powered the Eagle & Phenix Textile Mill. Entirely toprope on bolts with chains two routes use an old sign on as an anchor. Fairly short, fairly chossy, try to grab and stand on the rock, not the mortar. Top is great for photos. Accessing the bolts at the top of the dam requires a ladder in order to safely reach the bolts.
Do not leave the chains dangling off of the dam once you are done for the day. Flip them back up so that they are out of sight from the ground and walk to the river side of the large sign where you can be lowered off of a large clevis hook.
Getting There
Coming from downtown Columbus, cross the 13th Street Bridge to get to the Alabama Side of the River. Park at The Chattahoochee Brewing Company, head towards the south side of 13th St. Walk underneath pedestrian bridge down grassy slope to find the beginning of dam on your left. Getting on top of the dam to establish a TR is simple, there is a very large pin lodged in the corner underneath the sign, tie a rope to this and throw it over, walk to the other side to batman up the rope to the top of the dam. Walking around to the front of the dam, the river-facing side, there is a concrete structure with more of these large iron pins that may make getting to the top easier if you would rather solo ~12 ft.
