Description
A very special place. A mini-mecca of splitters for climbers who enjoy adventure routes with cheap hot springs and even cheaper beer a short drive away. All routes are 600' or longer and have been done once, to my knowledge. I am not sure how much climbing was done back in the day, but what is left is full of grand potential. I have never found any sign of climbers (tat, cleared loose blocks, etc.)
A side note: I never believed in ghosts until I camped beneath Comet Mountain....

Getting There
Drive to the trailhead for Coolidge Ghost Town, about 15 miles from Elkhorn Hot Springs and Maverick Mountain Ski Area. Hike to and through the abandoned town. Yes, it is very cool. Read the signs and educate yourself. Who knew that President Calvin Coolidge had strong ties to this tiny little mountain settlement?
To get to the Hidden Gold Wall and the Fins, keep walking on a trail that leaves the far end of town for approximately a mile and a half. Look up and gawk at the foreboding 400' wall absolutely caked with splittas. This is the Hidden Gold Wall.
To get to Comet Mountain, pass through Coolidge as well, but only for 1/2 mile. Cut hard right (south). Easy boulder hopping and off-trail hiking gains the higher drainage where you will find a beautiful lake with 600'-1200' walls rising out of it.
