This includes Cumberland Trail State Park (Deep Creek, Big Soddy, Buzzard Point, Laurel Falls, Dayton Pocket, Black Mountain and other areas within the park); South Cumberland State Park (Foster Falls and Denny Cove); Fall Creek Falls State Park; and Rocky Fork State Park Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email with your unique registration number, site rules, and other helpful info. Please keep the registration number with you while climbing. At some locations, you may be asked to leave a piece of paper with your registration number on your car dashboard. Groups of 10 or more, please call the park prior to filling out a registration.

Description

Shaman Cave is an impressively hulking buttress of steep, stacked overhangs that builds height from left to right. Home to some of Denny Cove's hardest and steepest lines (5.12+-5.14), a technical combo of thuggy roof tugging, heel hooking, and mystical knee bars will help your vision quest to the top. A little orange rock yields to that beautiful blocky and bullet tan and white stone. So take the medicine they offer and let the Shaman of Sandstone guide you to the top. A few of the routes are quite popular, so don't bogart; pass it around to share burns and good vibes. Always double-check fixed hardware, like fixed draws and 'biners, and replace or tighten parts as needed. Located between Between Ladies Delight wall and the Pig buttress, this is the obvious mega-cave.

Getting There

Take the cliff line approach trail, which is up the stairs at the junction between the Denny East and Denny West signs. Roughly 15 minutes from the junction.
