Description Suggest change

Alpine cragging at it's finest. This granite crag is visible from Hwy 2 on the final bit of road before Steven's Pass. All climbs are about 85' or less so just a single 60m rope is needed. All routes face south so they can be a bit warm on a sunny day but the giant "Refriderator Crack" a the base of the crag will keep your beverages a cool 50 degrees even on a hot day. Most routes feature slab and crack on a mixture of gear and modern bolts. The guidebook Weekend Rock Washington by David Whitelaw covers this crag.

Getting There Suggest change

Hwy 2 to Stevens Pass. Take the old Steven's Pass Hwy (now Tye Rd.) downhill towards the Iron Horse Trailhead and the historic railroad townsite of Wellington. Keeping an eye on the hill above pull off just uphill of the double hairpin turn (about 1.4 miles from US2). There are only very faint traces of a trail in a couple places but the general idea is to head up hill utilizing the open old growth forest eventually trending left across a drainge to the base of the crag. Approach is about 1000' of gain and takes 45-60 minutes.
