Description
A large and beautiful dome up Tenaya Canyon from Mt. Watkins, just across from Clouds Rest. 3 routes have been reported, but there are more.
Getting There
Approached from Tuolumne. It's easiest to park at Olmstead Point. Hike the Snow Creek Trail for maybe an hour. Before the switchbacks on the backside of Watkins, leave the trail to gain the creek that leads down into Tenaya Canyon on the east side of Ysasoo. The drainage starts to gets steep and eventually you can cut across a small section of thick bushes and gain the base of the wall. The going along the base is clear and nice. This leads to the base of the east side of Yasoo.
If you want to appraoch the west side of the dome, or use the cut in approach for The Chief, leave the Snow Creek trail a little later, and hike down the gully on the west side of the dome.
