Description

The Calico Mountain range offers a lot of new route potential. The rock quality seems poor overall as most locations that look great at a distance are in reality are of a very chossy composition. Best climbed in the very early morning or late afternoon during the summer season as some of the North-South Canyons enter full shade and cool quickly to a tolerable temperature. Bring plenty of water.

Getting There

BLM Trails from Fort Irwin Road provide access to the North side of the mountain range. 4WD is not required but encouraged as well as off-road driving equipment and experience.
