Description

Point 5,220 offers stunning vistas of Moose's Butte and Sedona. This short scramble makes for a great solo and cardio romp and maybe should be considered as an addition to something in the area but not as a sole objective.

Getting There

To reach the trailhead, continue 1.6 miles east up the Schnebly Hill Road past the popular Munds Wagon Trailhead. Don't get waxed by the bazillion pink jeeps on the road. High clearance is recommended to the parking area. If you're not equipped with high clearance, start from the Munds Wagon Trailhead and follow the Munds Wagon Trail.

Approx parking location on Schnebly Road: 34.8702, -111.7282.

From the Schnebly Hill Road, hike north to the Munds Wagon/Hangover Trail junction (~100 feet from the road). Then hike north and then back west on the Hangover Trail to the saddle between Point 5,220 and Pointed Dome. From the saddle, follow a decent trail up slickrock to the eastern edge of 5,220's summit massive where an obvious arch is located. Hike around the south side of the summit block to the base of the west ridge (north works as well, but involves a little more of an exposed slickrock traverse).
