Description
50 foot tall schist/serpentine like rock that can be climbed on the second day after no rain as well as in the shade all the time (dries out really fast despite being in the shade). 5 routes have been established with a little potential, although the best routes are already established. 3 classic routes, a chossy (5.11?) Face and a decent traverse. Let me know what you think about the grades, very unique climbs and I had a hard time grading them. The two cracks were originally graded 5.8 by the old school castle rock crew, but I'm gonna say that they sandbagged the heck out of those routes.
Getting There
Take the Alma Bridge Road exit (Northbound only). If you are arriving Southbound on the 17 you'll need to loop back around by taking the Bear Creek Road exit.
Continue along Alma Bridge Road over the bridge for a quarter mile to reach the parking lot (paid). Walk back toward the bridge to reach the trail. Continue down it for 1 mile (25 min walk or a short bike ride). Pass two benches to a fork. Take the right branch down which will follow an aqueduct. There will be a mossy rock with another smaller one next to it and a wooden power line pull right in front of the trail to the top of the boulder. The trail to the main rock is in between the two rocks after the power line wooden pull.
