Description
Hemlock Block refers to the climbing found on the approach-side of the creek, opposite from main wall. Before crossing the bridge over deep creek, you'll turn right on a wide trail that runs perpendicular to the approach trail. This will eventually meander uphill to the first sector, Hemlock Block proper, which has the routes Tabernacle 12a and Flight of the Intruder 10c. Several other walls can be found as one continues to hike down the trail. This side has AM shade/PM sun.
Getting There
From the parking lot, follow the SCC trail to where it meets the Cumberland Trail. Continue to follow the CT down the stone steps until you reach the old logging road (you can see the bridge over the creek from here). Instead of continuing down and crossing the river, follow the road to the right. It quickly turns into a narrow trail with Wood Nettles (wear pants!). Follow this along some rugged terrain and you'll eventually end up at the Hemlock Block.
