Description
A small, shady crag which is good for warm summer days. It's north-facing, in the woods and at the top of a hill, so it doesn't trap hot and humid air. However, the rock quality leaves a little to be desired; wear a helmet, especially the belayer.
Getting There
Exit the A70 between Bamberg and Bayreuth at Scheßlitz and head to Stübig. From there, continue towards Wattendorf and shortly (approx. 150m) after Roßdach park on the left where a dirt road branches off. From here, cross the street and follow a crap trail uphill to the left at the edge of the forest. After about 100m a trail branches off sharp right and leads up the steep trail to the rock. If you miss it (we didn't even know it was there until we walked back after climbing), you have to take the ecologically friendly and guidebook-approved approach by just forging straight up the hill to the rock which is barely visible through the trees. It's also a bit demotivating looking up that damn hill towards your distant goal. The single-track trail previously described is definitely the better alternative.
