Yosemite National Park has yearly closures for Peregrine Falcon Protection March 1- July 15. Always check the NPS website at nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/… for the most current details and park alerts, and to learn more about the peregrine falcon, and how closures help it survive. This page also shares closures and warnings due to current fires, smoke, etc.
Description
The crag is located on the lower south flank of Mt. Hoffman, east of Coyote Rocks.
To descend: scramble down from the top toward the south until you can lower over the back on huge plates and climb down the steep short wall. Some folks may want to just rappel from a slung horn.
Getting There
There are two options for approach: 1) Park at the May Lake Trailhead about 12 miles west of Tuolumne Meadows and walk in a west-northwest trending direction for about a hour, 2) Park along the Tioga Road near Hoffman Creek (which is located approximately 1/3 mile west of the May Lake Road / Tioga Road Junction. Walk north along Hoffman Creek for about a mile, then trend northwest and uphill until you see the crag through the Red fir trees .
