Description Suggest change

Some of the largest boulders at Burr Pond are on and near the old stretch of “Starks Road” that passes the park.  Technically within Paugnut State Forest but access is still wide open.
What’s posted here now is from a single exploration hike as the sun was just setting. It looks like there is good potential here to develop new routes or re-establish routes that haven’t been touched in a long time.

Getting There Suggest change

From main parking lot, start heading clockwise around the blue blaze loop trail. Youll cross a small bridge over a stream, then when the blue trail splits off to the right, stay straight and follow the unpaved Pond Road. After about 3/4 mile there is a 4-way junction - turning right will take you to the blue/white blazed trail back towarss the pond. Go left instead and head down the other side of the hill. All of these are visible from the old road.
Alternately, instead of starting at the Burr Pond parking lot, start at the bottom of the hill on “starks hill road” and hike uphill.
