Description
The area encompassing Elsa and Keno City has a long and storied history of prospecting, mining, and mineral exploration dating back to the first discovery of silver veins in 1906. It is situated in a mountainous region of the Yukon Plateau and the traditional territory of the Na-Cho Nyak Dun (Big River People). Although outcrop is rare, opportunities for climbing do exist on a cliff-forming metamorphic rock known as greenstone; characterized by smooth planar faces, jointing, and angular holds.
