Getting weather forecast...

Description

A small basalt crag on the Deschutes River minutes from Redmond. There's a few short, quality routes on the west-facing cliff just below the falls and a decent amount of bouldering downstream. Any history is welcome...

The routes stay in the shade until after 3pm in the summer, then get shade again an hour before sunset. There's some graffiti and litter, but otherwise a pleasant vibe. In 2017, the 100-year old Cline Falls dam and power plant were removed, restoring the river to a more natural state.

Getting There

Drive 4 miles west of Redmond on 126. Park along the large pullout with a guardrail on the north side of the highway, across from Cline Falls State Park. At the start of the pullout take a trail downhill, when you hit the river walk right (downstream). When you reach the falls scramble down to the river, following a path through the bushes and tiptoe around the water to the start of the routes. In fall and winter when the river is high, an alternate approach from further downstream may be necessary. 10 minute approach.
