Description Suggest change

A high concentration of quality routes on six different walls and formations, including some decent cracks. The area falls into deep shade by early afternoon and tends to be less windy than other areas higher on the mountain.

Getting There Suggest change

The Darkside can be approached by scrambling down from The Outpost, or from below via its own trail, that breaks from the Hillside Trail a couple hundred meters below Jabba (Tattooine).

Another approach is by using The Darkside Trail, reached from the main area of the parking lot, by hiking northward from the Hillside Trailhead towards the group camp area. West and uphill from the group camp, the trail heads between the north side of the Foreplay area and a usually dry canyons south rim, until it enters a wide open elevated valley. When passing thru the valley heading northwest, the striking Tattooine Area can be seen gazing above and left. Continuing northwest across this valley and hiking up a short steep hillside will bring you to the Darkside Area.

Use the trails. Please don’t cut across the undisturbed desert.
