Description Suggest change

Miner's is a beautiful, long cliff of white Dolomite similar in quality to that of its neighbor to the North, Wild Iris.

There are many routes developed here, with the potential for many more. The cliff is south facing and has little protection from the sun. The best time of year to visit are those perfect fall days of October and November. The drive to Miner's is easy in comparison to other Lander crags (Little Po), however a section of the road is steep, and you must have a vehicle with higher clearance for the 15 ft "rock crawl." A Subaru does just fine.

"Lander Rock Climbs" has great beta for this great cliff. Most of the routes only get climbed a handful of times per year, therefore, this page can serve as a placeholder with the guidebook being the ideal beta for this off the beaten path crag. Pick up a copy and enjoy some of the history Steve and crew have put together. Hopefully posting this will drum up some new interest for new visitors!

Getting There Suggest change

Drive as if heading to Wild Iris, but pass Limestone Mountain Road and take the next immediate left onto Beaver Creek Rd (325). Consult Lander Rock Climbs 2018 for detailed directions to the cliff. If you're feeling adventurous, the location pin is exactly on the parking area. Leave the gate after the hill how you found it!

History

Suggest change

Miner's Delight's name comes from the gold mining district that can be seen across canyon. Thousands flooded to the South Pass area in the early 1900's in hopes of finding the biggest nugz of gold in the west. Today, recreational mining is still very popular and attracts people from all over the region. Climbers have discovered where the true value of South Pass lies: the DOLOMITE!
