Description
Rattlesnake is the oldest sport crag in the North Bend area with several routes bolted in 1988-89 by Bryan Burdo. A few more routes throughout the 90s and 2000s were established by Leland Windham. In 2023 retro development was started with several old routes being rebolted and new routes being put up. Work is still ongoing so rule of thumb is if a route isn't posted on Mountain Project it isn't ready to be climbed. The rock is generally very soft and oscillates from absolute mud choss to basically fine. The features the rock forms though! Rattlesnake has never been a popular crag so don't worry about crowds.
Getting There
When at the parking lot for Rattlesnake Lake, and looking at the Ledge, routes are all on climber's left. Most people stay clear of the direct fall-line of the ledge, since hikers tend to trundle rocks and water bottles from the top. Take the main trail to the Ledge, and at .75 miles hike another few hundred feet and near a flat rock look for a worn path heading uphill. Once level with the base of the lower tier you’ll find a path cutting right. Continue higher for the upper tier.
