Description
Meadow Creek is a small, quiet, sunny crag just off Meadow Creek Rd. near Tabernash. There are short (about 40 foot) easy routes on excellent rock. All can be toproped and walked off, and two are well-protected trad lines. Various lines share three good top anchors with chains. This is a good place for beginners with lots of positive holds and fairly steep terrain in the 5.5-5.7 range. If you choose to use only the smaller holds (is this the definition of "contrived"?), you can climb some 5.8 or 5.9 lines.
I am not sure who put up these top anchors (Don Maurais?) or if the crag has another name. So if anyone knows, please comment accordingly, add route names, etc. I climbed 8 lines that are relatively independent of each other, if somewhat contrived. The two cracks about 5 feet apart near the middle of the wall are solid and easy (5.5?) trad leads; everything else is a toprope unless you accept about 25 feet of groundfall runout before getting any gear in.

Getting There
See the directions to Hurd Creek Crag. At the split between Meadow Creek and Hurd Creek (mile 1.3), go left on Meadow Creek Rd. (FR 129) towards Meadow Creek Reservoir. Then go another 1.4 miles from that point, and look up left about 50 feet above the road for the big rock with top anchor chains. There is a nice trail to the rock.
