Description
Hosts a few large floating sandstone boulders and sandstone outcroppings. Please avoid climbing on the rare house sized balance rock formation as the pedestal is very small and delicate. Use the parking lot and hike in. Keep the climbing low key. Be respectful of the locals and hunters.
Getting There
South of Blackhawk Lake, off of Union Grove Road. From US-18, turn north on Sinbad Rd, just east of Edmund. Turn left on Union Grove Rd. at the bottom of a hill. After you pass a few cliffs on private land, at the south end of the Union Grove Ridge, there is a DNR parking area.
There's a fire road that wraps around the area with gates on each side. Parking is at the southern gate and the easiest approach is from the northern gate. It might be best to park and hike back up the road a bit rather than bushwhack through a sea of thorns and pricker bushes. Although the road is narrow, there is seldom much traffic.
