Description

Contains five sport routes with bolt protection and anchors.
Overall faces WSW.

Name: Glen Dawson both made ground-breaking First Ascents in the southern Sierra, and organized others to get into Sierra climbing. Grew in Pasadena, one of the key founders of Sierra Club "Southern California" Rock Climbing section and the Ski Mountaineering section. First Ascent of the Mechanic's Route at Tahquitz, and of both the Mt Whitney East Face and East Buttress, first big wall routes of the Sierra, ground-breaking in their time and still popular. - [ see Bio story ] -

. . (previous name "Trident" was for the Trident du Tacul, a remarkable granite needle rising up out of the glacier over Combe Maudit (and just left of the Grand Capucin). Of course topped with three vertical prongs (of granite). Very popular by its least-difficult route Voie L├ępiney.

warning: The rock in this sector has not been climbed much yet, and much of the rock is still breakable and loose -- so the belayer and other people should stand far away from underneath the climber.

Getting There

Follow the instructions on the Rush area description page to reach sector 7 Hill. Then turn Left and walk/scramble N about 500 feet (with some ups + downs) to reach this sector. (8-16 minutes)

Or at times of low water flow in Rush Creek, consider the "Alternate hiking/wading approach" described further down on the Rush area description page to reach sector 1 Farquhar, then scramble steep up right, and horizontal about 100 feet across sector 2 Rowell to reach this sector.
