Description
Emanon is by far one of the best areas I have stumbled upon. It consists of large, stand alone blocks. The rock is solid Devil's Head granite. Harder projects and problems along with a large assortment of easier climbs makes this a great place for anybody really.
Getting There
Take Rampart Range Road for a while. Here we go...from Sedalia, head west on CO 67. After a hairpin left turn, drive for about 5 minutes. Rampart Range Road will be on your left. It is fairly well-marked and at the crest of a hill. Follow this road. At the Devil's Head turnoff, continue right on Rampart Range Road towards Jackson's Creek. Stay on this road until you come to Dakan Rd. on your left.
I recommend decent clearance under your vehicle, and 4WD is helpful but not entirely needed. Continue on Dakan until you go up an S-turn (usually the crux of the drive) about 4 minutes into your drive down this road. After this turn, there will shortly be a MARKED camping and parking area on your left. Park here.
Walk back down the road (about 7 minutes) until you are almost at the S-turn from the top. On your left of the road, 2 rocks mark access to Emanon. It is a 1 minute walk off road, easy cheesy. It is 5 minutes walking total, maybe.
