DescriptionAs you drive north of Shoshone Idaho along highway 75 you would think that there is no climbing whatsoever for miles and miles. The landscape looks like flat lava rock with some sagebrush growing on it. What you fail to realize however is that the lava flow that you are driving over left a series of lava tubes that have collapsed in sections and remained in tact in other sections. A couple of these lava tubes can be toured for a fee of around $10 per person, but as a climber, you're probably more interested in the collapsed sections that have left awesome cave features just below ground level that can be climbed. Currently there are two developed collapsed lava tubes in this area, but there may be room for further development as well.
