Description
A relatively small area though rich with many possibilities. Unique in that it faces mostly south and west. This may be advantageous for cold weather. There may be as many as a dozen lines here for those frosty Jungle days. The approach is short making this a real bonus for the area.
Getting There
From the Upper Jungle, travel north on the main road for 1.5 miles passing the Dark Continent Area parking to reach a road on your left. Here find a cell tower weather station transmission box marked number "11." Turn left here on FS Rd. 1458 and travel another 3 tenths of a mile passing a cell tower, and then down a logging road on the right heading northwest (see topo). Shortly, find a pull out on the left with a large cairn. Upper Jungle to here is a total of 1.8 miles. An easy, newly re-cut trail leads quickly to the edge. This is where you find an easy down chute complete with a fixed line for your convenience.
Just down the road on the right is a terrific campsite within easy walking distance of both this area and the Banshee Wall. The campsite is in a large meadow and has a fire ring as well as stumps to sit on. Very nice!
