Access Issue: Don't climb on wet rock!
Details
Attention:
Don't climb on wet rock! Sandstone is a porous rock type that can absorb a lot of water. It can lose up to 75% of its strength while wet, making it easy to snap off holds and irreparably damage classic climbs. Wait 48 to 72hrs after precipitation. If the ground is still damp then the rock is still wet. A great way to check for precipitation history before traveling to Joe's is to go to this site-
climate.usu.edu/mchd/dashbo…
and under "Data Charts" click the "Precipitation" tab. Make sure the surface wetness is 0 before climbing.

Description
The Road Boulder is one of the most accessible boulders in New Joe's and hosts around 7 major problems. Typical of New Joe's it's fairly clean sandstone with interesting features. Flat landing areas combined with some mildly steep faces make for excellent bouldering. The problems here are excellent for a solid warm up.
There is a splitter that runs vertically through the middle, follow this crack after you top out (for problems on the west and south sides) and you find a nice easy down climb along a juggy hand crack.
More information can be found in Isaac Caldiero's guidebook to Joe's Valley.

Getting There
Starting at the big rock pile which marks the main road to enter New Joe's, Hike around 3/4 of a mile along the main road like you are heading to the closet or chip and dale. The boulder is directly on the trail on the right hand side.
You can drive most of the way along the dirt road.
If you are hiking from the other parking area, It is about a hundred yards south of Chip and Dale.
