Description Suggest change

Although the trailhead described here is technically just over a rise from the flat, it's an excellent bucket name for the whole Blue Lakes area around it. The Pacific Crest Trail crosses Blue Lakes Road here, and civilized campgrounds are just past that spot at the lakes themselves.

The season for most climbers to visit would be spring to fall. Blue Lakes Road locks its gates near highway 88 when snow's on the ground.

Getting There Suggest change

From Highway 88 east of Carson Pass, take Blue Lakes Road south past Hope Valley. On the uphill grade just before dropping back into Border Ruffian Flat, park safely on a shoulder where the unsigned (and scarcely visible from the paved road) Pack Trail starts.
