Description Suggest change

Blood Mountain has a large amount of boulders with the highest concentration being on the south side along the Freeman trail as well as towards the top on the AT.  Don't let the lack of published information or the strenuous approach deter you, as there are good boulder problems of all difficulties amongst the mountain, many with an amazing view. The problems towards the top tend to stay clean due to traffic.  Otherwise, lichen and vegetation will reclaim the rock in quick time.  Poison ivy is thick along the Freeman trail in the warmer months, so if you are sensitive you may want to avoid the area.

Getting There Suggest change

Take Hwy 19 to the Byron Reece Trailhead parking at Neel Gap. Hike south on the Byron Reece trail until it intersects the AT. Turn right and hike uphill to Blood Mountain
