Description
Marin is a great crag that offers the elusive multipitch sport climbs on one section. There are dozens of climbs here. Overall, there is a large variety of climbs in terms of difficulty and style, from overhanging jugs and crimpers to limestone slab (some polished, some not.) It faces southeast, but gets shade in the summer after 4pm (and it is light until 9:30). Warm in winter, but can be windy.
Getting There
Get to the town of Elda on the A-31. Take the exit labeled 'Hospital,' which is in the north portion of Elda. Go back over A-31 and turn toward Elda. Follow signs at any roundabout for Sax. Once on CV-833, watch carefully for the gate at the bottom of a hill that has an orange roof and says 'La Curva.' take the small road just to the left of this gate for about 1km. Look carefully on the right for some grey pillars back from the road with marks on them. Turn between these and follow the road to a parking area with an information sign, about 1km. Looking left, you will see a nice crag - this is not Marin, it is the backside of Marin. To get to the real crag, take the path to the notch and walk dow to the base od the other side. (The side facing the parking lot has some short routes that are in the shade until 2pm in the summer.)
