Description

The more sunny of the two side-by-side canyons in this area. Features some larger, more exposed walls of pocketed limestone.

Please note climbing around pictographs is forbidden. The "Painted Wall" has not been added to the database for this reason. Please observe and respect closure signs.

Getting There

From Helena

: Take Canyon Ferry Road (Hwy 430/284) East around North side of lake over the dam. Turn left on Hellgate Gulch Road. Drive time: 45 minutes.

From Bozeman: Take I-90 West to 287 North towards Helena. Turn right in Townsend on Hwy 12. Take a left on Hwy 284. Head north for about 25 miles. Turn right on Hellgate Gulch Road. Drive time: 1:15
