Description Suggest change

The "Ariege" is a french department with 25 different locations where you can climb! Different rock type (Limestone 70%, gneiss and granite 30%). You can find crags as well as mountain routes up to 3000 feet. Most of teh areas have very easy routes (5.5) up to 5.13. Means that everyone can climb ! Most of the routes are FULLY BOLTED (even the very long routes with 30 pitches!). Equipment is really secure and brand new (old spits are systematically replaced). You can climb there quite all year long (can be cold in winter and some mountain areas snowy). In summer (mainly middle of august) you can have stroms at the end of the afternoon. A special thank for the CAF for the huge work! (equipment). Complete topo available at the following adress : cafma.free.fr/secteurs.htm
Enjoy!

Getting There Suggest change

Biggest town close to the area is Toulouse (1 to 2h, depending where you want to climb). Small towns around (Ax les Thermes, Tarascon sur Ariège) where you can find hotels, campings, and gear shops. You can also go to "Andorre" (prices are low : duty free).
