Description
A little confusing, but this area of boulders is just PAST the McCormick Gap Overlook. Just past the paved parking area you'll see the sign with elevation on the left side of the road. The A.T. crosses Skyline Drive here. There's a grassy section on the right you can park...or just park in overlook area and hike up to the elevation sign.
Most of these boulders are pretty spread out and stand as solitary boulders. I've tried to put orange surveying tape near some of the boulders to help out a bit.
To actually start finding the boulders you'll need to locate the old stone bridge that Skyline Drive goes over right before the grassy shoudler on the right and the elevation sign on the left. Hike to bottom of the bridge and you'll see a grassy secondary trail. Follow that trail for about 200meters where you'll then see two small boulders right on the trail. The first areas of boulders start to appear about 20 meters off the trail from that point.
Good luck.
