A nice place for beginners to practice techniques safely-even ground with mowed grass everywhere. It looks like a boulder jungle gym and is great for kids of all ages as well as some of the boulders are tiny. The rock is a gritty sandstone, which can be sharp and sometimes pokey (finger tape is a good idea to avoid flappers); bug spray for the mosquitos (creek nearby).

Tables and benches, a gazebo and a very quiet location make this a great picnic/lunch break stop on the way to somewhere else (no food locally available besides sodas, chips and candy). Friendly lady on staff. Minneapolis nearby is the quintessential little town and has a nice Donut shop. May 29, 2015
Rock City is open year round and invites all visitors to climb and crawl around our boulders. Covering 5 acres of shaded Kansas prairie, they are the largest calcite-cemented concretions in the world and one of the 8 Georgraphical Wonders of Kansas. Rock City is conveniently located just 3.5 miles south of Minneapolis, KS on Highway 106, just 15 minutes north of I-70 via interstate Highway 81. Enjoy the picnic area and nature trail when you visit. There are public restrooms on site and the Rock City Gift Shop is open May through September.

These formations served as important landmarks for early settlers passing by in covered wagons and for countless generations of Native American Indians before them. Rock City is a National Natural Landmark.

This place looks awesome... How big are the boulders? Are there any boulder problems that are noteworthy? Any rules/regulations/access issues? Do you have any other pictures?

Id like to stop by here on my way to/from Hueco Tanks, I would love some more info... Thanks! Dec 30, 2011

On our drive from CO to Lawrence, KS, we stopped on the way there and back to stretch the legs. Fun place with 12 climbable boulders and about 40 problems from V0 to V3, and maybe a V4 here and there. I really enjoy arriving at an area with no beta to climb whatever looks fun. I uploaded an amateur video here:

This place is pretty fun. Locals were quirky...My girls and I stopped here for an hour or so whilst jamming cross country. Albeit it was spring and not terribly hot, but we had a blast bouldering and I got a break from driving! Oct 23, 2007
