Access Issue: RAIN, WET ROCK and RAPTOR CLOSURES: The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Also please ask and be aware of Raptor Closures in areas. Details

WET ROCK: Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN MOAB during or after rain.

RAPTOR CLOSURES: please be aware of seasonal raptor closures. They occur annually in the spring. Indian Creek Raptor Closure walls include: Echos, The Wall, Far Side, Original Meat, Tenderloins, Second Meat, First Meat, Selfish, Six Star, Cliffs of Insanity, Public Service Wall, Disappointment Cliffs, Fin Wall, Broken Tooth, Cat Wall, Slug Wall, Reservoir Wall, Critic’s Choice.

The Big Brain

Big Brain its located down at Kane Creek Valley. You should past Ice Cream Perl for about 4 mils.Past big bolder (looking like BIG BRAIN and Bi.Br. its new brother of BIG BEN) on right side and few camping lots. Look for first chalk bolder problem on the left side (DOMINATOR problem on Road Side Bolder) its visible from the road. All day Sunny. Rock type: Sand stone. Many problems have bullet proof stone. High and low bolder problems with mostly flat landing. Its plenty parking and camping around. Camping its for free. No toilets no showers no nothing. Bring plenty water. Area its brand new so please pick up the trash and try by worthiest!!! Look for new problems and post them here. Area have possibility for good hard bolder problems and i am talking about V0-V12 (some highball). So have fun its all about that.

Getting There

Its 30 min driving from downtown Moab. Take Moab Kane Creek Blvd and following the road all the way down (way to Hurah Pass) past Ice Cream Pearl (slab climbing area on you right side) for about 3-4 mil and Big Brain will be on your left side. May to August can be hot weather. Otherwise all right.
