Description

The Henrys are between Hanksville and Hite. The highest peaks are Mount Ellen (11,552ft), Mount Pennel (11,371ft, and Mount Hillers (10,723ft). The peaks are barely in the alpine zone. This was the last mountain range to be discovered in the lower forty-eight states, by Powell. Hidden from highway viewing, on the northwest slopes of Mt Pennell, is a technical summit called The Horn.

What Jonathan said -- it's a relatively small compact area and the routes are dead obvious. If you're up there to sport climb, you'll want to be solid in the 5.12 grades to get full value. It's not a beginner-freindly area. A solid 5.11 crack climber can stay really busy on the splitters. Unlimited bouldering at all grades. The first time I went there we were on a sightseeing tour, we had very little idea of the places existence. I'd been climbing up there for a year or two before I saw another climber. Pack your car, pencil in a few days, have an adventure. Aug 13, 2016

Hi,

I've heard of some sport routes on the North Ridge of Bull. I was wondering if anyone has any information on historical routes/ascents of Bull Mountain. Please share any information if possible.
Thanks! Apr 16, 2015
Spoon fed? Absolutely not! But basic beta begets more climbing and less reconnoitering, thus leading to less walking/searching on the now fragile and new soils at the Horns base. Check out Marks commits on the next page (The Horn). Sep 26, 2014
Go explore, have an adventure. Take care and don't rip a tendon on the super sharp stone. Sep 5, 2014
Come on people! Do you really think this remote crag will get crowded up? The Jungle is way closer to civilization and I may see 100 folks a season. I have been to the Horn pre and post fire. I have roughly counted over 50 lines. This place, its quality lines, and its pristine location will only draw the kind of folks you would want to see here! Toss those folks a bone. Sep 1, 2014
Because of a very hot and distructive fire this great place is not as climber friendly anymore. Hard to stay "unashed" on the approaches. The rock itself however may just be the best in the state! There are many existing routes here. I wish someone with the beta would give us some input! Sep 7, 2011
