Description
Like the rock climbing here, the bouldering area is relatively small but has quite a bit to offer. The granite here is heavily featured. There's not much shade unless you're behind one of the taller boulders. If you're familiar with the area, you'll know that this is really a remote area but super easy to get to. The boulders range in height from 6' to 35' or higher. And just for info, this area is currently being developed so the trails aren't exactly obvious at times.
Getting There
•From I-8 & the 805, drive about 33 miles East on the I-8 (past Alpine) to Exit 40 CA 79-N/Japatule Valley Rd toward Julian.
•Take Exit 40/Hwy-79 and turn left (North).
•Drive 0.8 of a mile to Wildwood Glen Ln.
•Turn Left (West) on Wildwood Glen Ln and park at the Helo pad/turn around/USFS gate.
•Don't forget your water and walk past the gate for exactly 700 feet.
•You will notice a clearing in the brush on the bank to the North. This is the trailhead.
•Take this trail then split West (left) when you're directly under the powerlines.
•This is where the trail starts to fade but continue West under the powerlines until you reach the pole with a rock cairn.
•Break North here and find your problems.
