Description

East of 29 Palms there is a mountain range of granite called the Coxcomb Mountains. There is alot of rock out there, and not alot of information about the climbing that has been done there. There is 4th and 5th class scrambling and climbing to get to the summits and ridges of some of the peaks in the Coxcombs. It is an area of solitude, stunning desert views, wonderful plant and animal homes, and desert quiet unlike other areas of the Park. Of the few technical rock climbs done in the area, not much has been recorded and information is scarce.

Getting There

Drive down the main highway past 29 Palms for a half hour or so; you will see the rocks and granite peaks off to your right. Start exploring.
