Getting weather forecast...
DescriptionFrancois is a tiny remote town only accessible by boat. It has a population of 116, as of summer 2009 when I was there. This population is in decline as young people leave for more populated areas, and older folks pass away.
It is at the head of a fjord, with towering cliffs surrounding the entrance. Warm when sunny, it suffers from typically fickle Newfoundland weather. The rock is solid granite.
A particularly attractive spire, known as "the Friar" towers over the town and provides a birds eye view of it.
