Description
This Tepui is located in La Gran Sabana, Edo. Bolívar. Comprises the south section of the enormous Chimanta Massiff, close to the Pemón community called Yunek ( wikimapia.org/9965895/Akopa…).
Most of the established climbs are on a south face, so stays in the sun almost all day. Best season is January-March, when is more dry. Temperatures can be hot in the day and chilly at night, but never extreme.
The rock is mostly excellent and steep. Walls are anywhere from 1000 to 2000 feet tall, in many cases overhanging on the top. Many roofs and ledges can be found. There are about 15 climbs already ascended in this area. Most of them are all free and grade IV or V. Is a great place for such endeavors.
The access is pretty easy. You MUST contract a guide in Yunek (porters are also available), PLEASE respect this rule and include it in your budget. Is the ONLY thing they ask from climbers to grant the access. Don't be a cheap bastard and avoid inducing future access issues with the local community.
