Description
The Hideout is a group of small formations directly west of the Shark's Fin in the Alabama Hills, however, driving west from the Fin will land you in 4x4 moguls. Taking the track south of the Shark’s Fin and parallel to Lone Pine Creek provides access to all vehicle.
These rocks have a nice mix of north-facing and south-facing routes, making the area a good place to fire off a few climbs regardless of season.
Getting There
From Movie Road, approach as for the Shark's Fin. But almost immediately, take the left-hand fork in the road (Lone Pine Fire Road N1). This will take you along the edge of private property, bypassing the 4x4 moguls near Whitney boulder. 0.5 miles brings you to the Hideout East. 0.7 miles brings you to Hideout West.
The crags are obvious, and located a ways west of the Whitney Boulder and Sharks Fin.
