Description

The Flash Gordon Area is a collection of problems in a side canyon on the right side of the trail between the Long Valley and Trailside Areas. Problems of all sorts and grades are found here with short one-move-wonders, long traverses, scary highballs, slabs and roofs.

Some of the better problems here include the Tree Problem (V0-), Serpentine Ridge (V0- R), Another Tree Problem (V0+), Sea of Tranquility (V1 R), Buck Rogers (V2), Flash Gordon (V3), Rufus (V5), The Rhino (V7 R), The Elf (V8) and the Mr. Smiley Traverse (V10).

Getting There

Hike past the Ranger Station and the trail junction bearing right and continue for about 100 meters to a spot where the trail crosses a slab of granite. From here veer right at about 2 o'clock and follow a trail which leads to the mouth of the canyon - the Warm-up Boulder will be quickly visible on the right side of the trail.
