Getting weather forecast...

Description

Several routes ranging from 5.9 to 12c. Routes face East and West so you can chase the sun or shade. Most routes can be top-roped, but are also bolted (a couple require gear).

Getting There

Walk a couple minutes on the trail to the East. The trail will take you to the top of a flat rock formation. The routes begin below you. To the left, Suck It Up Crybaby (5.12b) is visible; to the right, Dr. Diaper (5.9 crack) is visible, as well as a couple others. Go down the trail to the left, or follow the formation to the right to a steep trail to the base of the climbs.

We’ve been working on the access trails for the Overlook - Starting Block area. With the impacts of the Brian Head Fire and the general erosion of the area, our goal is to stabilize the trails, make access easier/safer, and improve the overall sustainability of climbing in the area.

A few weeks ago, a belay ledge was built up under “As the Song and Dance Begins” (5.9). Today we stabilized the section of trail where you drop down from the top of the cliff. We also added a water bar to divert water from the trail and attempt to minimize erosion. We plan to improve the access trail and add cairns in the coming weeks.

PLEASE, IF YOU CLIMB AT THE OVERLOOK, instead of going straight down the slope toward “As the Song and Dance Begins,” walk straight toward “Howard Hughes” and then switchback down by taking the well-defined trail right after the burned tree (see first photo).

I also want to note that materials and labor were provided by local climbers from Cedar City. Please be patient as we continue working on this area, be respectful of the new structures, and stay on clear well-defined trails. Aug 11, 2018 · Temporary Report
