Access Issue: Red Rock RAIN AND WET ROCK: The sandstone is fragile and is very easily damaged when wet. Details

Description

The north-facing, arching roof of Gradute Cliff features at least four climbs: a crack (Walk to School, 5.7) a corner/face climb over a ceiling (The Graduate 5.10) and a pair of sheer slab routes with mixed pro (5.11 and up). The approach is mellow and descent is via rap anchors at the top of each route.

Getting There

Graduate Cliff is located in the Willow Springs area on the south side, a couple of hundred feet directly above Ragged Edges Rock. Approach by heading south from the parking areas. Jaunt to the right of Ragged Edges, around and to the top of that crag and then blaze up to Graduate Cliff.

Found 2 bolted anchors with chains to the left of "Walk to School". Both routes start in the corner, next to a small tree. I climbed the route closest to Walk to School and would give it about a 5.7. The rock is a bit soft during the first part, but improves towards the top. Plenty of opportunities to place pro and there's even a bolt near the top. We rapped down with a 70 m rope - not sure if a 60 would reach all the way down. Does anybody have any information (FA, Grade, etc...)? Jul 4, 2018
