13-Mile Campground, the only campground in Red Rock, will be closed for renovation work this summer. It would probably be too hot to camp in anyway, but now you know. They used to close it every summer, but in recent years they kept it open year-round. I can't wait to see what the place will look like after the renovations. The BLM says that the project is funded by the sale of public lands to local developers, so at least we can profit this little bit from the actions of the land speculators...

Unless you are a contractor, don't expect to profit. Call me cynical, but... you know. At least they probably can't make the place worse!
They're suppose to be adding much needed shade canopies to the individual campsites. As well as canopies and restrooms to the group sites. It would definitely be an improvement.
