Hello Durango area climbers,

I was wondering if anyone has ventured up to the Vallecito Crags yet this season.

Please let me know if the forest service enacts a closure of Middle Mountain road for winter. If you have contact information for our forest service district, that would also be helpful information. I can call them and report findings here.

Thanks! And happy spring-almost-summer!

I think I'm already planning on being up there for Miles' music festival shindig, so I figured I'd check it out. I still haven't made it up that way!

And thanks for the contact info bjp! I'll give them a call today!

Talked to the green pants over at the forest service and they said upper gate will stay closed until June 1st. Lower gate, May 1st. I believe mile marker #,5 as indicated in the "Getting There" section of the Vallecito Crag page, is between half and three quarters of a mile past the lower gate.

Enjoy!

Roger that, lower gate still closed, but thanks for the exact dates for opening....

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
