Phil Watts and I met with Managers of the Longyear Trust this afternoon at their request. The Longyear trust owns the AAA Wall land. It was a good and encouraging meeting. It is likely that the U.P. Climbers Coalition and the Access Fund will work with Longyear to solve some significant issues with climbing at the AAA Wall. We recommend a temporary moratorium on climbing at the AAA Wall as a preventative measure against encounters and inconsistent information being shared. Giving up a month or two of climbing at AAA may facilitate a gain of permanent access. This seems like a reasonable thing to do. Also, it will be very important to avoid camping in the AAA Wall area. We will appreciate everyone doing this for the future of climbing at the AAA Wall. We will send updates as more information is available. Thanks to everyone for working with us on this.
